Better publicity means better business
We all want to find new or better customers. Try
putting yourself in the mind of a new customer. How
would he find you? What could you do to have helped him
find you sooner? Would he be impressed with your publicity?
Are you in the best directories?
Publicity covers all of the ways in which you present yourself to your
potential customers, from how you answer the telephone, through advertising and brochures,
even to the appearance of the entrance lobby of your premises.
Your publicity should not just tell your customer how good you are, but
also how good your products will make him.
First impressions are very important.
If you have a 20 page catalogue and you receive an enquiry as a result of a successful
press release, do you simply send the catalogue with a complements slip? Or do you send a
personal letter with the catalogue directing the enquirer to the appropriate page?
If you impress the customer - you will do better.
Do you get visitors to your premises?
Does your reception area look as good as your products? If you displayed photographs of
your product range, approval certificates etc., all of these would be working for
you whilst your customer is waiting. He will think that your products are as good as your
reception area.
Try telephoning your office pretending to be a customer
Do you put the newest, greenest junior on the phones? Next time you phone into the
office, pretend that you are a customer and see if you would be impressed with their
efficiency, manner and product knowledge.
Does your web site, adverts, letters and brochures tell your customers what you want him to know or
what he wants to see ?
